The Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window…a wisp of clouds gently floats back and forth across the gorgeous full moon still hanging in the sky at this early hour. The wind is cooler than you’d think for July 27th.

I am thinking…that it must be some kind of joke it’s the last week of July.

I am thankful for…cool summer days.

From the kitchen…there’s some leftover chili in there but I’m in desperate need of groceries. I’ve built some slack time into my schedule today – it just has to be done! I can’t serve these people any more smile fries this week.

I am wearing…a big cozy sweater and pajama pants.

I am creating…a summer dress. I’m trying to get back to it because the summer will be over before the dress is done.

I am going…to Starbucks for a meeting early this morning. I haven’t put on make up and left the house before 8:00 in years. How do you get up and ready for work in time when there are kids involved, anyway?

I am reading…Rachel’s Holiday by Marian Keyes. Bright Shiny Morning by James Frey was absolutely wonderful. Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin paled in comparison so I picked this one up instead. I don’t believe Keyes has a sub-par novel in her. Her books make me laugh out loud.

I am hoping…for a productive day.

I am hearing…absolutely nothing except for the wind rustling the leaves of the maple tree in my front yard.

Around the house…things are in order except for some laundry folding that’s a wee bit behind. No biggie.

One of my favorite things…coffee with lots of cream and sugar.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Work, work, barbecue with friends on Friday, work, work and some more work.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…“It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to…” Double birthday party for a three-year-old and a five-year-old is bound to have some tears involved. Here, Shelby shows her displeasure over the fact that she has a Care Bear cake and her sister has a Princess and the Frog Cake. Can you say overtired?
